Drop-Off and Dismissal
Belton Middle School Afternoon Car Dismissal
At BMS, our top priority is your child’s education and safety. Authorized family members that will be picking up their student in car line will need to display a car tag/piece of paper with their student's name in the car window. When you pull into the car line in the afternoons, you will be forming a double line. Please pull up as close to the car in front of you as possible. If you are in line 1 (parallel to the football field), please place your tag on the driver side. If you are in line 2 (parallel to Cherokee Road), please place your tag on the passenger side of the car.
A staff member will walk between the two rows of cars and input the student’s name into their device to signal your arrival. Therefore, the tag will need to be displayed on either the driver’s side or the passenger’s side window, depending on where your car is in the line. We will mark off approximately 14 cars at a time to be in groups. Car riders will remain in the building at dismissal time. Student names will appear on teacher’s devices inside the school where the car riders are located. At dismissal time, we will begin dismissing Group 1. A school official will walk Group 1 car riders down the double parked car line. When all cars are loaded, that group will be directed to pull out and the next group will be directed to pull up. This procedure is followed for all car groups. It will be extremely important for all children to pay attention at dismissal. If a child does not come out with his group, the parent will be directed to pull around to the front of the school and go in to locate their child. Only children who have been called in a group will be outside. Parents need to remain in their cars at all times. No student will be dismissed at the front of the building or from the office except in rare cases of families needing an early dismissal.
Thank you for understanding that this is an important safety measure for our children. As we open this school year in a new setting for everyone, we greatly appreciate your patience and understanding as everyone gets into this new routine.
