During Warrior Time, some of our 8th graders watched a Mackin Storyteller Spotlight featuring author Rex Ogle. Students heard him read an excerpt from his newest novel, Absent, and watched a Q&A where he shared more about his writing and stories. Our students found the experience inspiring and are excited to read more of his books!

BMS is excited to welcome the Anderson County Public Library Bookmobile! Our 8th graders will have the opportunity to visit on Friday, October 16 during Warrior Time and choose books to check out.
Any books checked out through the Bookmobile are the responsibility of the student and their parent/guardian. Books must be returned directly to the Anderson County Public Library - not BMS. The Belton Branch is conveniently located near the school for families who need to return books.

Today, Esperanza Rising jumped right off the page as Ms. Anderson’s seventh graders celebrated the main character’s birthday by sampling one of her favorite treats..papaya salad!!
But the tasting was just the beginning.
Through their Esperanza Rising Digital Notebook, they’re using the novel as a bridge across content areas to connect ELA, World Geography, Math, history, culture, economics, and real-world problem solving into one shared learning experience.
Because geography isn’t just about finding places on a map. It’s about understanding how where we live influences what we eat, how we work, why we move, what opportunities we have, and the stories we tell!
